Abstract

Obesity is a major metabolic risk factor closely associated with the development of type 2 diabetes among adults. This study examines the relationship between obesity and diabetes by considering body mass index, waist circumference, lifestyle behaviors, and blood glucose status. Additional factors such as dietary habits, physical activity, sedentary behavior, age, and family history are also assessed. The findings suggest that adults with higher body mass index and central obesity are more likely to have elevated blood glucose levels and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Excess body fat may contribute to insulin resistance and impaired glucose regulation, particularly when combined with unhealthy dietary patterns and low physical activity. The study highlights the importance of weight management, regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and early metabolic screening in reducing diabetes risk. Preventive strategies targeting obesity may contribute significantly to lowering the burden of type 2 diabetes among adults.
