Abstract

Diabetes is a major public health concern that requires adequate awareness for effective prevention, early detection, and long-term management. This study examines knowledge and awareness of diabetes prevention and management among the general population. Awareness is assessed through understanding of major risk factors, common symptoms, complications, healthy dietary practices, physical activity, weight management, blood glucose monitoring, and the importance of regular medical follow-up. The findings suggest that general awareness of diabetes is present, but important gaps remain regarding prevention strategies, early symptoms, and appropriate self-management practices. Limited knowledge of healthy lifestyle measures and irregular health screening may increase the risk of delayed diagnosis and poor disease control. Greater awareness is associated with healthier behaviors and improved readiness to seek medical care. The study highlights the need for continuous health education, community screening, and accessible preventive programs to strengthen diabetes knowledge and promote effective prevention and management.
