Medication adherence is a key component of effective type 2 diabetes management and plays an important role in maintaining adequate glycemic control. This study examines medication adherence among adults with type 2 diabetes and explores factors associated with regular or irregular treatment practices. Adherence is assessed through medication-taking behavior, missed doses, treatment duration, understanding of prescribed therapy, and follow-up with healthcare providers. Factors such as forgetfulness, treatment complexity, medication cost, side effects, health literacy, and family support are also considered. The findings suggest that consistent medication adherence is associated with better blood glucose control and improved disease management, whereas missed doses and irregular use may contribute to poor glycemic outcomes and increased risk of complications. The study emphasizes the importance of patient education, simplified treatment routines, regular follow-up, and supportive healthcare communication to improve adherence and promote better long-term health outcomes among individuals living with type 2 diabetes.
