A sedentary lifestyle has become increasingly common and is associated with several adverse metabolic health outcomes. This study examines the relationship between prolonged sedentary behavior and selected indicators of metabolic health among adults. Sedentary behavior is assessed through daily sitting time, screen exposure, occupational inactivity, and low participation in physical activity. Metabolic health indicators include body mass index, waist circumference, blood glucose, lipid profile, and blood pressure. The findings suggest that individuals with higher levels of sedentary behavior are more likely to demonstrate unfavorable metabolic characteristics, including increased body weight, abdominal obesity, impaired glucose regulation, and abnormal lipid levels. Regular physical activity and frequent breaks from prolonged sitting appear to reduce some of these risks. The study highlights the importance of minimizing sedentary time and incorporating routine movement into daily life as practical strategies for improving metabolic health and reducing the long-term risk of chronic disease.
