Abstract

Increasing use of digital devices has raised concerns regarding its potential influence on sleep quality among young adults. This study examines the association between daily screen time and different aspects of sleep in this population. Screen exposure is assessed through time spent using smartphones, computers, tablets, and televisions for academic, occupational, and recreational purposes. Sleep quality is evaluated based on sleep duration, sleep onset, nighttime disturbances, daytime fatigue, and overall sleep satisfaction. The findings suggest that longer daily screen time, particularly during evening and nighttime hours, is associated with delayed sleep onset, shorter sleep duration, and poorer perceived sleep quality. Frequent device use before bedtime may also contribute to irregular sleep schedules and increased daytime tiredness. The study highlights the importance of managing daily screen exposure, reducing device use before bedtime, and maintaining consistent sleep routines to support better sleep quality and overall well-being among young adults.
